HC refuses bail to ex-Punjab cop in Bhola drug syndicate case, orders speedy trial

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has held that courts must expedite the trial where the quantity of drugs involved is more than 10 times the commercial quantity. The ruling came as a Division Bench turned down the bail petition of dismissed Punjab Police Sub-Inspector Sarabjit Singh in a drugs case. He was accused of actively associating with the organised drug trafficking syndicate headed by Jagdish Singh, alias Bhola, and other co-accused.
