Yangon Garment Workers End Month-Long Strike After Reaching Partial Pay Deal

Workers at the Chinese-owned Spring Moon Garment Factory in Yangon's Hlaingtharyar Township have ended a month-long strike after reaching an agreement with management on four key demands, according to the Solidarity of Trade Unions Myanmar (STUM). The agreement, signed on August 11 and retroactive to August 1, resolves a 30-day labor dispute at the factory located in Industrial Zone (4). Following the agreement, 133 participating workers resumed work on August 12. Under the negotiated terms, the daily allowance (general subsidy) increases from 10,000 to 11,000 Myanmar Kyat (MMK).
