Wilmington gets a highway marker for North Carolina’s pioneering Black lawyer

George Lawrence Mabson is finally getting some official and long-overdue recognition. On Saturday, a new roadside historical marker will be unveiled in Wilmington that notes the accomplishments of Mabson, who was North Carolina’s first practicing Black lawyer and one of the Port City’s most remarkable sons.
