Volcanic island in Indonesia erupts, canceling hundreds of flights and stranding thousands

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — A volcano erupted in Indonesia on Sunday, prompting the cancellation of all flights at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and disrupting other domestic airports as about 170,000 passengers were stranded by ash drifting across western parts of the country.
