Tropical wave floods Gonaïves, killing 1 and damaging 1,500 homes

An Atlantic tropical wave caused flooding and landslides in Gonaïves, killing one person and damaging about 1,500 homes. The hardest-hit areas included Bienac, Gatreau, Ka-Soleil, Praville and Bois-d’Homme, where floodwaters and mud entered homes. Public infrastructure, including the city’s civil prison, was also affected.
