The Camino Phenomenon: A Modern Pilgrimage That's Not Just For The Faithful

PARIS — This spring, the French association Compostela Pilgrim Ways Agency saw a 40% increase from 2023 in the number of requests for Pilgrim Passports (or credencial), a document to be stamped along the Camino de Santiago, or the Way of St. James. And by mid-July, more than 230,000 pilgrims had arrived in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
