Syria, UN: Colombia’s Recognition of Israeli ‘Sovereignty’ Over Occupied Golan Violates International Law

Syria has strongly condemned Colombia’s recognition of Israeli 'sovereignty' over the occupied Syrian Golan, while UN Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Claudio Cordone said the decision “directly contravenes international law”. Colombia is only the second country after the United States to recognise Israel’s annexation, which UN Security Council Resolution 497 declared “null and void and without international legal effect”.
