Suspect, 22, jailed in Amsterdam stabbing of 85-year-old man

A 22-year-old man accused of stabbing an 85-year-old pedestrian on the Jaagpad in Amsterdam Nieuw-West will remain in custody for at least 14 days, a judge ruled Friday.The stabbing occurred Tuesday afternoon on the footpath along the edge of the city. Witnesses told police they saw a man approach the victim around 2:30 p.m., after which a verbal altercation took place.According to police, the situation escalated quickly. The suspect allegedly stabbed the older man multiple times before fleeing the scene.
