State panel set up to identify illegal foreigners
SHILLONG, Aug 25: The Meghalaya government has constituted a state-level committee to identify foreigners residing illegally in the state, including those who have overstayed since January 1, 2011, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma told the Assembly on Tuesday. Replying to the short-duration discussion on the VPP’s 10-point charter, Sangma said the committee is headed by the Principal Secretary or Secretary, Home (Political) Department, and will submit monthly reports to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
