IF the “move fast and break things” ethos of the billionaire tech bros at Silicon Valley is transposed to the Philippine setting, the equivalent can be found in the overall philosophy that undergirds the manner, methods and ways by which members of the Duterte family handle public money. The Dutertes’ version is “spend fast and furiously, as in a spending spree.” The relationship of each Duterte in public office with public money, based on public records and available evidence, is straightforward enough: spend fast, spend it all, the rules be damned.
