A state-of-the-art AI system first highlighted by the Express’ Stop The Shoplifters crusade has resulted in a quadrupling in the number of shoplifters being snared across London. The Auror system, imported to thye UK from New Zealand, has been piloted across six London boroughs, and will now be used in a further eight boroughs from today (Tue) by the Met with more to follow in the coming months. But its success has led to fresh calls for it to be rolled out nationally by the Home Office to combat the £200bn epidemic decimating Britain’s high streets.
