Refugee arrivals fall 25%, ahead of "strictest regime ever"

The number of refugees coming to the Netherlands reached 8,100 people in the third quarter of this year, down 23% on the same period in 2023 and well below government forecasts. The biggest drop was in the number of people applying for refugee status from Syria. Their number fell from 4,300 in 2023 to 3,300 between July and September this year.
