Recognise Tirot Sing as Syiemlieh, clan urges govt

SHILLONG, Sep 20: The Syiemlieh clan has asked the State government to formally recognise Khasi freedom fighter and former Syiem of Hima Nongkhlaw as Tirot Sing Syiemlieh, saying the full name is needed to protect his historical identity and lineage. Talking to reporters, Syiem of Hima Nongkhlaw Phrester Manik Syiem said oral history handed down through generations, and the record of the Hima itself, establish that Tirot Sing belonged to the Syiemlieh clan.
