Police shoot knife-wielding man dead in Helsinki

Police shot and killed a man in the Alppiharju district of Helsinki on Saturday morning after he refused to drop a knife and advanced toward officers, according to a statement by the Helsinki Police Department. Officers received a call before 10 a.m. reporting a man carrying a knife in the stairwell of a residential building on Kinaporinkatu. When police arrived, the man fled to the roof of the building.
