Nepal flash floods swept five wild elephants, including two young calves, into powerful currents before they reached Girijapuri Barrage in Uttar Pradesh. IAS officer Supriya Sahu said three adult elephants stayed with the struggling calves and fought the rushing water to protect them. Forest and Irrigation Department teams reduced the water force and safely guided the herd back into the forest.
