Myanmar couple from Bangkok held with Rs 2.65 cr worth smuggled gold at Chennai airport

CHENNAI: Smuggling of gold seems to be making a return to Chennai airport after a hiatus, as customs officials have made the second seizure within a week. In the latest, a middle-aged Myanmar couple was arrested for smuggling nearly 2kg gold worth Rs 2.65 crore from Bangkok on Saturday, raising doubts about smuggling cartels engaging foreign nationals to smuggle gold.
