Mosquito ovitrap index remains elevated

The mosquito ovitrap index reached 63.9% in August, exceeding the five-year average of 59.4% and raising concerns about dengue and chikungunya transmission. The Health Bureau (SSM) said ovitrap readings in Coloane, Fai Chi Kei and the Inner Harbour area surpassed 70%. With the school year approaching, authorities urged schools and social service facilities to remove standing water and strengthen environmental cleaning.
