Mirza Fakhrul’s Bangladesh

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Secretary-General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Local Government Minister, has captured the essence of contemporary Bangladesh’s place in historical time. “I always say one thing: those who want people to forget 1971, or make them forget it, actually never believe in Bangladesh. Because if we are to believe in Bangladesh, we must keep 1971 at the forefront. We will move forward with that,” he told a gathering of leaders of the Hindu community recently.
