Marta Cowling set to become Portugal’s first female Consul General in Macau

Marta Cowling is set to become Portugal’s next Consul General in Macau and Hong Kong, succeeding Alexandre Leitão, according to public broadcaster TDM. The diplomatic appointment has not yet been formally announced. Cowling, currently deputy director general of Portugal’s Directorate-General for Consular Affairs and Portuguese Communities, is expected to become the seventh consul general to lead Portugal’s representation in Macau and the first woman to hold the post.
