Malta contractor pleads guilty to grand larceny

A Malta contractor has admitted to taking money from a client and not doing the work. Dakota Smith, who owns DAS Builders & Remodeling LLC, is accused of entering into an agreement with a Clifton Park resident to complete a home renovation project. He took a $18,000 deposit and failed to start the work or purchase the necessary materials for the project, State Police said.Smith was arrested in September 2023.
