Sir Keir Starmer has said the UK’s “cast-iron” support of Ukraine will “always endure”, as he made a final visit to the country as Prime Minister . The outgoing Labour leader will meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a high-security trip to the war-torn country’s capital Kyiv on Thursday for the last time before leaving office. He is expected to tell Mr Zelensky that the UK’s commitment to backing Ukraine will continue after he is replaced by Andy Burnham , who is set to be the fifth prime minister since Russia’s invasion of the country in 2022.
