In the late 1990s, a small Ecuadorian tree frog, Scinax quinquefasciatus, now known as Fowler's snouted tree frog, appeared on the islands. Researchers believe it arrived accidentally, probably as a stowaway on cargo ships travelling from mainland Ecuador.
