HC upholds `35.92 lakhcompensation for death of boy in mishap

The Bombay High Court recently upheld a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) order directing Reliance General Insurance to pay Rs 35.92 lakh as compensation to the mother of a 13-year-old boy who died in an accident near Ghodbunder Road in 2019. Reliance appealed the award as “excessive”, but the court refused to interfere, stressing that compensation for minors must account for future prospects and the shrinking value of money.
