From simulation to dialogue: bringing evidence into Indonesia’s electoral reform discussion

As Indonesia looks ahead to the 2029 elections, attention is turning to how the electoral system can better support representation, accountability and a stronger connection between voters and those elected to represent them. Indonesia’s electoral democracy has made significant progress over the past two decades, yet discussion continues over whether the current legislative electoral system can deliver both proportional outcomes and closer voter-representative links.
