Famous traditional festivals highlight summer in Japan’s Tohoku region

While summer events are held throughout the country, especially during the Obon period from Aug. 13-15, the three traditional festivals in Aomori, Akita and Sendai in the Tohoku region (northern part of honsyu mainland), are particularly famous for their large scale and unique traditions.
