When students in Denmark return to school this week after their summer recess, they will do so under a new regime governing how they can use generative artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for their assignments. For example, the 9,000 students in upper classes (the rough equivalent of sixth form) who have to complete the Større skriftlig opgave (SSO), or major written paper, as part of their final assessments, will have to defend their essays.
