Church news updates for Catholics and Orthodox

This col­umn will dis­cuss re­cent de­vel­op­ments in both the Catholic and East­ern Or­tho­dox Church­es in Trinidad and To­ba­go. On the Catholic front, the Arch­bish­op of Port-of- Spain, Ja­son Gor­don, has writ­ten on the schism with­in the Ro­man Catholic Church that took place this year in the Catholic news­pa­per. Un­der­stand­ing the full con­text of the schism and its im­pli­ca­tions would re­quire thou­sands of words delv­ing in­to his­to­ry and canon law; how­ev­er, I will at­tempt to do my best in this col­umn.
