China punishes 10 for spreading ‘fake’ flood toll

Chinese police punished 10 people accused of spreading false information online about the Gyirong flood disaster, including claims that thousands had died and official casualty figures were being concealed. The cybersecurity department of China’s ministry of public security said most cases involved fabricated or exaggerated death tolls circulated online.
