Note that what follows is a narrative reconstruction of Ferdinand Magellan’s epic voyage. It does not pretend to be accurate in every detail, given that so much of what transpired is simply unknown to us and that some of the sources we do have actually contradict one another. Yet every detail recounted here is, at the very least, perfectly plausible in the context of the times.
