Are John Beckenridge and his stepson Mike hiding in Asia?

It's been eight years since John Beckenridge and his stepson, Mike, vanished. Their car was found at the bottom of a cliff in Southland's Curio Bay but their bodies were never found. There's been plenty of speculation about what really happened, including a suggestion they faked their deaths and are on the run.
